Privacy Policy

Last updated: 26 August 2026

The short version: the numbers you type into our calculators are processed entirely inside your own browser. They are never sent to us, never stored on a server, and never shared. We have no accounts, no logins, and no newsletter. What little data we do handle is the ordinary technical information your browser sends to any website, plus optional analytics you can decline.

1. Scope and our role

This Policy explains how personal data is handled when you visit CalculatorWala (calculatorwala.com). It is written to comply with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 ("DPDP Act") and the Digital Personal Data Protection Rules, 2025 made under it, and with the Information Technology Act, 2000 read with the Information Technology (Reasonable Security Practices and Procedures and Sensitive Personal Data or Information) Rules, 2011 ("SPDI Rules").

For the purposes of the DPDP Act, the Data Fiduciary is the owner and operator of the calculatorwala.com domain, and you — the visitor — are the Data Principal. Contact details are in section 10.

2. What we do not collect

This matters more than the list of what we do collect, so it comes first.

  • Your calculator inputs. Loan amounts, salary figures, interest rates, tenures, investment amounts and every other value you enter are processed by JavaScript running locally in your browser. They are not transmitted to us or to anyone else, are not written to any server, and disappear when you close or reload the page.
  • Identity or financial documents. We never ask for your name, PAN, Aadhaar, bank account number, card details, salary slips, or any KYC document. If any page or email ever asks you for these in our name, it is not us — please report it to us.
  • Accounts and profiles. There is nothing to register for, so we hold no usernames, passwords, or user profiles.
  • Sensitive personal data as defined under the SPDI Rules, including passwords, financial account information, health data, and biometric information.

3. What is collected, and why

CategoryWhat it includesPurpose
Technical/server log data IP address (often truncated or masked by our provider), approximate location at city level, browser and device type, operating system, referring page, pages requested, date and time Delivering the site, security, abuse and bot prevention, diagnosing errors. Generated automatically by our hosting and content-delivery provider.
Essential local storage A small record of your cookie/consent choice so we do not ask again on every page Honouring your own preference. Stored in your browser, not on a server.
Optional analytics consent-based Aggregated, non-identifying usage statistics — which pages are visited, roughly how long, entry and exit pages, country Understanding which calculators are useful so we can improve and prioritise them. Loaded only if you accept.
Optional advertising consent-based Cookies or identifiers set by an advertising network if and when we introduce ads Funding the site. Not currently active; if introduced, it will be disclosed here and gated behind your consent.
Correspondence Your email address and whatever you choose to write to us Replying to you and handling grievances. Kept only as long as needed for that purpose.

4. Legal basis for processing

Under the DPDP Act we rely on:

  • Consent (Section 6) — for optional analytics and advertising cookies, and for replying to correspondence you initiate. Consent is requested through a clear notice, is free, specific, informed and unconditional, and covers only what is described here.
  • Certain legitimate uses (Section 7) — where you voluntarily provide data for a purpose and have not indicated that you object, and for maintaining the security and integrity of the Website.

You may withdraw consent at any time, with the same ease as giving it, by clearing your site data or using the cookie preferences link in the footer. Withdrawal is not retrospective, and essential site functions will continue to work — declining costs you nothing.

5. Sharing, processors, and transfers outside India

We do not sell, rent, or trade personal data, and we do not build or share marketing profiles. Data may be processed on our behalf by a limited set of service providers acting as Data Processors under contract:

  • a hosting and content-delivery/DNS provider, which processes request logs to serve and protect the site;
  • an analytics provider, only if you have consented;
  • an advertising network, only if and when advertising is introduced and only with your consent.

Some of these providers operate servers outside India, so your technical data may be processed abroad. Such transfers are permitted under Section 16 of the DPDP Act, subject to any restrictions the Central Government notifies for specific countries; we will comply with any such restriction. We may also disclose data where required by law, by a court, or by a lawful order of a government agency, or to establish or defend a legal claim.

6. Retention and deletion

Server log data is retained only as long as needed for security and diagnostics, typically a short rolling window set by our hosting provider, and is then deleted or aggregated. Consent records are kept in your own browser until you clear them. Correspondence is deleted once the matter is closed and any limitation period has passed. Because we hold no accounts and no calculator inputs, there is normally nothing about you for us to erase.

7. Security

As required by Section 8(5) of the DPDP Act and the SPDI Rules, we take reasonable security safeguards: the site is served only over HTTPS, is static with no database or user-input storage, keeps calculations client-side by design, restricts administrative access, and relies on a reputable provider's network-level protection. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. In the event of a personal data breach we will notify affected Data Principals and the Data Protection Board of India as required by the DPDP Act and Rules.

8. Your rights as a Data Principal

Subject to the DPDP Act, you have the right to:

  • Access a summary of your personal data being processed and the processing activities undertaken (Section 11);
  • Correction, completion, updating and erasure of your personal data (Section 12);
  • Grievance redressal through the contact in section 10, before approaching the Board (Section 13);
  • Nominate another individual to exercise your rights in the event of your death or incapacity (Section 14);
  • Withdraw consent at any time (Section 6(4)).

To exercise a right, email us with enough detail to identify the data in question. We will respond within the timelines prescribed under the DPDP Rules, 2025, and in any case within 90 days of a grievance. Please note the DPDP Act also places duties on you as a Data Principal — including not raising false or frivolous grievances and not furnishing false particulars.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India.

9. Children

The Website is intended for adults making financial decisions. We do not knowingly collect personal data of children (individuals below 18 years of age) or of persons with disabilities who have a lawful guardian, and we do not carry out behavioural monitoring or targeted advertising directed at children, as prohibited by Section 9 of the DPDP Act. We have no mechanism for verifiable parental consent because we do not seek to process children's data at all. If you believe a child's personal data has reached us, write to us and we will delete it.

10. Contact and grievance redressal

For any question, request, or grievance about privacy or personal data — including your rights under section 8 — contact:

Grievance Officer / Contact Person, CalculatorWala
Email: contactcalculatorwala@gmail.com
Response: acknowledged promptly; resolved within 90 days of receipt, and sooner wherever possible.

Please write "Privacy request" or "Grievance" in the subject line so it is not missed.

11. Cookies and similar technologies

We use only what is necessary, plus what you allow:

  • Strictly necessary — a single local entry recording your consent choice. No tracking value.
  • Analytics — set only after you accept. Used in aggregate; not used to identify you.
  • Advertising — not currently used. If introduced, this section and the consent notice will be updated first.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time; the calculators will keep working. We also honour a Global Privacy Control signal from your browser by treating it as a refusal of optional cookies.

12. Changes to this Policy

We may revise this Policy as the law develops or as the Website changes. The current version always appears on this page with its "Last updated" date. Where a change materially affects how your data is handled, we will seek fresh consent as required.
